Legacy Trail

Welcome to The Legacy Trail!

This trail travels through the unique ecosystems protected by Kawartha Highlands Signature Site. This includes the mature forests, wetlands, streams, and rock barrens that span 350km² of the park’s rugged and wild landscape. Kawartha Highlands was selected as a “Signature Site” through Ontario’s Living Legacy initiative and established as the largest protected area in southern Ontario in 2005. This audio tour will discuss what makes the ecosystems along this trail special and how wildlife relies on them. The trailhead of the Legacy Trail is located across Anstruther Lake Road. Please use caution when proceeding across the road as vehicle traffic may be frequent. Also be advised to keep children and/or leashed pets out of harm’s way when crossing. Please look in both directions prior to crossing and proceed directly across.
